Backlit washi paper behind a timber framework. A signature system, unique in Australia.
Shoji is unlike anything else we build — and as far as we know, unique in Australia. Traditional Japanese washi paper, backlit behind a fine timber framework, so the whole wall glows softly and the bottles read in silhouette. It’s the system that turns a cellar into a feature, and the one architects ask for by name. Quiet, luminous, and unmistakably ours.
Washi over backlighting is unforgiving — the framework has to be exact or the light gives it away. This is the system that takes the most hours, and shows it.
